Ok guys, we've talked about best bands, best albums but lets think about those solos that just get us every time we hear them within the context of the song.
Its hard to say whats No.1 for sure as there are so many but would be great to hear opinions!
Here's a few...
+ All I Want - George Lynch (his tone on this is something else) + Sisters - Vai (the whole song - astounds me each time I hear it) + Incubus - Steve Rothery (Marillion - very Pink Floyd'ish but I think he's better than Gilmour which is saying something. Just love early Marillion) + Peddlers of Death - Zakk Wylde (BLS Sonic Brew version) + Floods - Dimebag Darrell + Just like suicide - Soundgarden + These are the Days or Innuendo - Queen + Mr Bluesman - Richie Sambora (but Clapton plays the solo!) + Wait - Vito Bratta (what happened to Bratta?) + Just - Radiohead + Knights of Cydonia - Muse + Cliffs of Dover - Eric Johnson + Fade to Black or One - Kirk Hammett + Gilmour - Numb or Another Brick in Wall
I'm a brit - and there's a few good brit guitarists up there!
Hey Cesar - what are some of your fave solo's?

Steve Vai has the Crossroads duel on The Elusive Light And Sound Vol. 1 album so he probably did

The duel found on Elusive Light & Sound isn't the same version found in the film. it could of been a reproduction steve made in the studio of the duel or possibly deleted material from the film.
I'm not sure if Steve wrote ALL that music though, as Ry Cooder played the karate kid's slide parts so i would imagine Cooder wrote the parts he played. But i'm sure it's equally as possible that Vai gave him at least a rough outline of what to play for those parts as well
